TOSB CORP. is pleased to announce its recent purchase of the Old Stone Barracks, located on the site of the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base. Despite local concerns, the Old Stone Barracks and the character of the remaining site will be maintained. TOSB CORP. has committed itself to safeguarding the historic character of the property by offering a long-term lease of the property to a not-for-profit group. Interested not-for-profit groups, especially those with ties to the military and /or to local history, should submit proposals for a long-term lease of the structure on a net-net-net basis.
TOSB CORP. wishes to have one master lease and encourages different groups to work together so that the entire building will be leased under one master lease.
According to the 1995 Historic Structures Survey, "The Old Stone Barracks is historically significant as the oldest extant structure on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base, which is itself historically notable as the most longstanding combat-ready, military installation in the United States. The Barracks is architecturally significant as a well-preserved example of the vernacular, Greek Revival period design applied to military function." Erected between 1838 and 1843, the building includes massive stone walls, heavy timber framing, and a beautiful two story columned porch running the full length of the north façade. Originally, the Old Stone Barracks was built to house enlisted soldiers.
TOSB CORP. purchased the property from PARC in May 2011.
Please feel free to communicate with Carlos at 514-601-8798 or CDC Real Estate at 518-297-7741.
